Text Transformation

Text transformation is an application domain featuring two important sub-fields of computational linguistics:

• parsing, from surface form to abstract representation,

• generation, from abstract representation to surface form.

Text simplification or automatic summarization belong to that domain.

We aim at using the framework of Abstract Categorial Grammars we develop to this end. It is indeed a reversible framework that allows both parsing and generation. Its underlying mathematical structure of λ-calculus makes it fit with our type-theoretic approach to discourse dynamics modeling. The ANR project Polymnie (see section  9.2.1.1 ) is especially dedicated to this aim.
